Fourth prize for the air cushions made from 100% certified and recycled paper

The PaperWave Box from Floeter and AirWave Packaging has been recognized as the most sustainable e-commerce packaging in Europe. After winning the WPO (World Packaging Organization) Presidents Award, the DVI - German Sustainability Award and the SPC Innovator Award (USA), this makes it the 4th award for PaperWave within 14 months.

The PaperWave box is based on the Frustration-Free packaging concept, which reduces the amount of cushioning material inside the box by 40% and packaging time by 50-70%. PaperWave is FSC® (C162510) certified and made from 100% recyclable paper with an ultrathin layer of potato starch blend. It can be disposed of in paper waste or home-composted.

The clamshell effect of the box is enhanced by the inflated PaperWave inlet. The air cushions can be printed with be individually printed with customer individual branding and recycling information.

Floeter was nominated for the first time. The nomination was made by Petra Hetzel from the German Association of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (BVMW).

The criteria of the award are related to a holistic corporate orientation with regard to innovation, sustainability, corporate citizenship, service, employee development and financial stability. Many thanks to the foundation for appreciating our work.

Out of 2,600 competitors in the regions of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin/Brandenburg, Hesse, Saxony and Thuringia, 27 companies received the award as finalists, 13 were able to receive the award statue. A total of 4,075 companies were nominated throughout Germany, the other federal states are awarded separately.

Sustainability is rewarded again - paper air cushions enjoy worldwide resonance

As a winner of the German Packaging Award, Floeter qualified to apply for the World Star Packaging Award. We are proud to announce that the Floeter Verpackungs-Service GmbH team has won the ultimate packaging award - a WorldStar Award in the e-commerce category for our PaperWave Bio paper air cushions.

Home compostable and curbside recyclable PaperWave air cushion films have been awarded the Innovation in Responsible Sourcing prize at the SPC Innovator Awards in Chicago. Presented by the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, the award recognizes breakthroughs in the procurement and use of sustainable materials, improvements in sourcing practices, and innovative uses of materials in packaging solutions.

Recycling only makes sense if everyone participates! The consumer has the right to know what the content of the products is. Particular attention must be paid to the proportion of post-consumer recycled material (PCR household waste). This is because pure waste from industrial production (PIR) is often used for the production of films, as it can be processed well and easily. FLOETER, however, goes one step further and uses more than 80% PCR - recycled plastics that have actually already been used in a product, then collected, sorted, washed and thermally processed. The recyclate obtained in this way is added to the ClimaFilm-100 during production.By using the "Blue Angel" awarded AirWave ClimaFilm-100 air cushion, the consumer is supporting the fact that an ever greater proportion of plastic waste is finding its way back into the material cycle. That is real sustainability!

With the new AirBoy nano4 air cushion machine, FLOETER introduces the fastest compact machine on the market with up to 11m/min. Without heating up time, the machine is quickly ready for use. This means that packaging material can be produced flexibly at any time and as needed. Operation is simple and intuitive. The machine is suitable for both air cushion chains and wider air cushion mats, which can be produced in 4 speed modes. Without the use of additional compressors, the air cushions can also be inflated extremely bulging for special purposes. The compact AirBoy nano4 is perfect as a low-cost and quick entry into online trading.

The FSC seal is the only globally seal that supports sustainable forest management.  The production and supply chain of the FLOETER AirWave PaperWave Bio paper air cushions achieved certification in December 2020, which is valid until 2025. In annual audits, the certifier checks that the regulations are also consistently complied with.

AirWave PaperWave Bio air cushion are made from 100% recycled paper and offer efficient transport protection. The material can be easily disposed of because it is compostable and even dissolves in water should the product end up in the ocean unplanned.
